The club was a big hit, due to in part to aggressive promotion by Brookz, including postering the city over and over. It helped establish The Magic Towne House as a major NYC venue for that would run for 13 years. The Magic Towne House ads appeared in The New York Post, Cue Magazine, New York Magazine, the Village Voice, along with write ups in the major NY newspapers including The NY Times for the magic shows performed by Dick Brooks, partner Dorothy Dietrich & others.

Satirist Brother Theodore's career had collapsed. He was brought out of retirement by Dick Brookz in the mid 1970's. It took multiple calls to Theodore to convince him to make a comeback. Theodore's attitude was very bleak, & he felt his career was over. "He was hustling chess." Brooks wanted to charge ten or more dollars, but Theodore insisted on four dollars, so as not to scare people away. The show was a success & ran after the regular shows, at midnight, for 3 years.

TV casting directors caught his act, starting with Tom Snyders Tomorrow Show 10/31/1977. "Once he started to appear on TV, he changed theaters, we never heard from him again & he never once said 'Thank You.' " Theodore made 16 appearances on NBC's Late Night with David Letterman, & was a regular on the Billy Crystal Show. He once again become a star toward the end of his life.

Dick Brookz started as a kid doing Tootsie Roll commercials for The Paul Whiteman TV Teen Club, then he was replaced by a much older adult, Dick Clark. He met a singer Rosalie Mann through show business friends Bobby Darin and Donny Kirshner. He wrote several songs with her that she would record on Coral Records. You can see his name on the records.
